A Holiday to remember We all deserve something to look forward to after a long, wet winter and with all the bad news that we are being bombarded with on a daily basis. The Yorkshire Dales are a fantastic place to get some fresh air and rest and recovery whatever the time of year, but especially in Spring and early Summer with all of the new life that we see at this time of year with lambs, young birds and wildlife in abundance. Imagine waking up to views of green fields and rolling hills in The Yorkshire Dales National Park. Escaping the stresses and strains of everyday life. Hearing the joyful calls of curlew, lapwing and oyster catchers. Enjoying a locally brewed pint and a hearty lunch in one of our three Askrigg village pubs (The Crown, Middle House and Kings Arms) before heading back to one of our two pet free, five star, gold award holiday cottages, being greeted on the way by the locals (it’s what we do round here). Chilling in the cottage gardens with delicious coffee and cake from our village deli the Bake-well with everything home made. Urlay Nook has had a 5 star Gold Award rating for many years, but we have also regularly upgraded Minnie’s Cottage so that we have been awarded the same rating by Visit England, who independently assess the quality of our cottages and the service that we provide. It takes hard work and commitment to earn these awards so we are delighted that we now have both cottages at 5 star Gold Award level, the highest grading that you can get, and we also have a ROSE Award (Recognition of Service Excellence) which is only given to 100 hospitality businesses a year.
